About Switchgrass Review

The Switchgrass Review is a national literary journal of women’s health, history, and transformation. We are published annually by the Coastal Bend Wellness Foundation (CBWF), in collaboration with the English Department at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. The journal emerges from an initiative by Bill Jeron Hoelscher, the CEO of CBWF, to raise awareness of women and girls with HIV and other health disparities in the Coastal Bend region of South Texas.  This initiative began with a Coastal Bend Wellness Poetry Prize, calling for poems from the Coastal Bend Region and across the nation. We now accept submissions in poetry, creative nonfiction, and fiction from our region and across the globe. The three winners and three finalists are selected by an outside judging panel and are published along with many other submissions.
